GLORIA DE OLIVEIRA
Gloria de Oliveira is a German-Brazilian musician and visual artist whose work blends ethereal soundscapes with cinematic visuals. Her 2022 album Oceans of Time, a collaboration with David Lynch protégé Dean Hurley, was released on Sacred Bones Records and acclaimed by The Wire, NTS Radio, and Loud and Quiet, who hailed it as “an ethereal gem”.
Originally trained in opera before turning to acting, she has appeared in productions such as Babylon Berlin and Christian Petzold’s Berlinale winner Undine. In 2017, she began releasing music under the project lovespells before focusing fully on her solo career. Her atmospheric songs are often accompanied by self-directed videos, reflecting her multidisciplinary approach.
After winning Hamburg’s Krach+Getöse Prize, she released two EPs (La Rose de Fer, Lèvres de Sang) and her full-length debut Fascination (2020), featuring remixes by Gudrun Gut and Fragrance. She has since composed for the Thalia Theater and was invited to perform at London Fashion Week, SXSW, and Pop-Kultur Berlin, where her commissioned piece SEREA was described as “the emotional highlight of the festival”.
She is currently working on her third album with producer Randall Dunn. Recent releases include remixes for Sergio Díaz De Rojas (Nettwerk) and Flying Moon in Space (Fuzz Club).
